That’s right: D.G.P.s, DJ 3000, Uncle Buck, plus all the regular WANG madness for only a fiver, surely there no excuse not to be there!
If techno is Kraftwerk jamming with George Clinton in an elevator, then the Detroit Grand Pubahs have got Spike Milligan on drums, Richard Pryor on bass and the Hair Bair Bunch on vocals.
But the Pubahs are no novelty act: they are on a mission to put the fun(k) back into techno. The Pubahs started out on tiny indie label ‘Throw’, releasing the underground club hit ‘Sandwiches’. When a Jive Electro A&R man heard it - dutifully out buying records at a local strip club - he immediately knew he had a hit on his hands. They scored a pop hit in a number of countries and an underground classic worldwide. They’ve taken their live show to another level, with Paris donning multiple costumes and personalities and encouraging the crowd to participate in the funk.
The Pubahs now also run their own label Det.Ele.Funk, and are just about to unleash their new album “Nutting Butt Funk” on an unsuspecting public. We can promise you one of the wildest live shows in techno: you’ll be crying with laughter, but(t) dancing your arse off!
As if this wasn’t enough we also have the mighty DJ 3000 from Underground Resistance/Motech Records. DJ 3000 is the newest addition to Underground Resistance’s U.R. Assault DJ team. He began DJ’ing around Detroit and was introduced to the world via the “Somewhere in Detroit” mix series on Submerge Recordings. DJ 3000 went a step further by establishing Motech Records, releasing a new hybrid breed of techno/electro/funk. Through his own releases, and through collaborations and contributions from some of the best up-and-coming Detroit producers, Motech has forged its own unique identity among the Submerge collection of labels. He’s had a track featured on the U.R. Interstellar Fugitives Vol.2 compilation album, and on the U.R. Battlepak Vol. 2. His skills as a DJ are second to none and if you like your techno Detroit style, he’s your man.
Uncle Buck first played for us in October last year and they rocked it big style. Since then the’ve been rocking dancefloors all over the place, so we thought we’d get them back. Better get ya dancin shoes on!
DJ support will be provided by Electro Elvis & Lula, Ben Lyford and Lukey Roots, so come down and support the cause!
Massive thanks to everybody who came and saw Jackal & Hyde tear the roof off the place in Feb (we hope those of you lucky enough enjoyed your free giveaways), and big up to all those that played!
awesome! see you there!
