Raised on the mean streets of post-hope, ghost townships, The Tivoli bring the art-rock noise, kicking and screaming from the loan shark infested, BNP infected waters of the Don Valley delta.
National Service is their first recorded moment, a monumental movement of supersonic guitars, rubberfunk bass, ivory towers and belts’n’braces brass all feathered and tarred by drunken, dirty drums and a jah wobble of tabla.
And, naturally, The Tivoli carry a hod full of hot sauce narrative: stories of sex, lies and bloody violence in the finest traditions of South Yorkshire’s lyrical legend.
Over the course of their 3 year history to date, The Tivoli have become influential in their area. Every gig is a word of mouth sell-out. Members of Cabaret Voltaire don their grey overcoats and brave the black skies of Sheffield to catch The Tivoli live. And they don’t do that for just any old new likely lads, that’s a fact.
The Tivoli are set to tread the boards on their debut UK tour as special guests of New Zealand’s Platinum selling, chart topping, Maori band of brothers Kora. Also sharing the stage will be the hip hop turntablist extraordinaire Red.
