Washington-based duo Thievery Corporation release their fifth studio album this autumn and to celebrate drop into West London for the sole UK date of their European tour. Bringing along their fully-fledged live entourage and a host of guest vocalists. Expect the essence and core of Thievery live on stage.

As ambassadors of the global sound Thievery’s Rob Garza and Eric Hilton have always risen above the mediocre downbeat sounds that glut the airwaves, their impeccable taste and unique production style giving them the edge. With the industry’s move to crossover musical styles and the needs of the public, the ‘world’ music sound has been redefined. With their amazing fifteen-person live show (which stunned all and everyone at The Big Chill this summer and should do again on the 16th) and DJing partnership, they are the essence of worldwide.

The Thievery band features album vocalists Rootz & Zeebo, LouLou, Karina Zeviani, Sista Pat and Natalia Clavier; prodigal percussionists Frank and El John; Hash and Rob Myers on bass and guitar / sitar; with Frank and Dave holding down the horn section. Eric and Rob take care of everything else, creating a kaleidoscopic background for their melodic globetrotting.

New longplayer ‘Radio Retaliation’ raises the bar with its blend of socio-political lyricism and richly layered production, touching upon the sounds of Jamaica, Latin America, Africa, Asia and the Middle East. Undoubtedly their broadest and most progressive album to date the outernational duo marries global music sophistication and political statement to harmonious and powerful effect.

Without question, their finest work to date this melting pot is the heart of their city; a part of their Babylon and definitely something to see them take on live…

The album ‘Radio Retaliation’ is due for release on ESL Music on September 23rd 2008
