Essence of Chi was born in South London in February 2004, and since its beginning has become one of the fastest growing Drum & Bass promotions of the last few years. Their parties combine all angles of drum’n’bass from deep to dancefloor with an electric atmosphere, while paying special attention to sound, light, space, and of course the all-important quality DJ and MC line up fused together to achieve the perfect balance.

From humble beginnings in Brixton’s Plan B, EOC progressed to bigger & more challenging ventures as time went by… from packing out their Birthday parties at the Scala & Hidden, to attracting queues round the block for their events at the infamous Herbal in Shoreditch.

They have held tour parties around the UK in places such as Leeds, Oxford, Brighton, Guildford and Portsmouth, and hosted Arenas at some of London’s most prestigious drum n bass events, including Renegade Hardware v Valve during Carnival 2006, the Baby Box and Bar at the Ministry of Sound for their in house d&b nights Fuse and Switch, a whole weekend at Innovation in the Sun 2008 alongside Rotation, and of course the legendary Moondance where they have proudly hosted the EOC Arena 7 times in a row since 2005.

One of their proudest achievements recently was a charity event held in aid of MacMillan Cancer Support in October 2008 , which was also a huge farewell party for original Essence of Chi resident MC & Co-founder LowQui who has recently emigrated to Australia. The event, held at EOC‘s birthplace Plan B, included the likes of Goldie, Storm, Doc Scott, Skream + various other EOC residents and friends, and was a huge success, attracting ravers from as far away as Dubai and Germany to wish LowQui “Bon Voyage”.

Essence of Chi returns on Easter Sunday 12th April to their Brixton birthplace to celebrate 5 years in the making. Following the huge success of MC LowQui’s Au Revoir Review back in October, EOC have decided to return to the venue where it all began, the new improved two arena Plan B complete with wall to wall spine shaking bass provided by Funktion One.

Those of you who have attended our previous birthday parties will know that you have to be mad to miss them, and this one is set to be a truly momentous occasion with not only MC LowQui returning from Oz for one night only but also the debut EOC set from the No.1 Drum n Bass DJ in the world and Ram Records head honcho, Andy C.

Soundsystem powered by Funktion One across both arenas
