Jakes Single artwork 4 300x300TITLE: The Jakes Project Vol. 4 / ARTIST: Jakes / LABEL: D-Style / RELEASE DATE: May 2009 / CAT NO: DSR018

1. Custard Cream
2. In The Place To Be

This 12” is where it’s at with two almighty stormers that serve to explain why dubstep is getting so big nowadays – join the revolution, and you won’t look back!

Custard Cream” opens with a suitably wobbly bassline, pulsating drum loop and screeching synths, already exhibiting all the elements of a slamming dubstep tune. Warping into the drop with earth-shattering subs that will shake you right to the core, Jakes knows exactly what he’s doing here. This tune really takes the biscuit and will destroy rigs across the country with its subterranean levels of bass. Another piece of chunky badness you can really get your teeth into from Jakes – heavy is just not the word!

Next up is “In The Place To Be“, with a heavy hip hop influence and vocal sampling from Run DMC, “1,2, 3 in tha place to be”. We begin another sonic journey into the depths of one of dubstep’s finest new tunes. The echoey bad-boy lyrics are chopped up and flipped over on their head as they merge into a shuddering bassline and the reverberating dubstep mayhem continues. This tune will simply leave you calling out for a rewind! Coming to a soundsystem near you soon!
