“Greatest Thing/Sequential Circuit” – D Kay (Brigand) [SINGLE] September 3, 2009Posted by rocketsciencemedia in Press Releases.
Hailing from Vienna Austria, Dkay is a well known name in the scene within Europe and a bit of a legend in the UK. With his UK Top20 hit “Barcelona” and many releases on the most prestigious labels such as Metalheadz, Virus, 31 and Soul:r under the belt, he has proven his musical talents many times. His jazzy organic album “individual soul” has sold out and had countless downloads, which bears well for this latest project.
BRIGAND has been created as a platform for himself and friends, where he can put out tunes as they happen, like a diary of Dkay’s music. Recent works include the now classic “Babylon” with Kasra, or the techy monster “Hardliner” with Sonic. Now it is time for one special person to return to the studio with Dkay – non-other than DJ Lee.
Having teamed up with Dkay quite a few times, he is no stranger to the production ways of the Vienna wizard, with there work always ending up in all A level DJ record boxes, such as Goldie, Doc Scott, Marky, Andy C and many more.
“The Greatest Thing” starts out with lush chords, building up on harmonies and steppin’ drums. Adding vocals, the intro lifts you into the realms of Dkay + Lee before slammin’ a dirty offkey bassline in your face. More percussion and flutes keep the uplifting spirit while the tune rolls into a hypnotising breakdown and returns to being just nasty – This is one for the ravers AND the ladies.
The flip sees another long-time collaborator and friend in the co-seat: DJ Rawfull. Usually at work with Dkay under the moniker Illskillz, for this Brigand project they decided to step out of the dark into the dark. “Sequential Circuit” takes it back to the old school – switched up breaks, a piano in pain and a dog eat dog bassline set the score for a dnb track for the connoisseur.
Dkay has recently finished his remix of the classic Dkay + DJ Lee track “Tuning” for Metalheadz. Exclusive to Goldie and Andy C, this already gets bashed worldwide. (This will be coming from us very soon.) Illskillz are also busy in the studio, making tracks, running the labels and their more than successful weekly night Beat it at Vienna’s most famous nightclub Flex. Expect more Dkay solo material on Brigand in the future.
